Dr. Melissa Wells

The Team at Optimal Brain

Dr. Melissa Wells

Dr. Melissa Wells completed her doctorate in psychology at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She is currently working under the supervision of Optimal Brain founder Dr. Calsey Fasching, as a postdoctoral fellow.  She offers comprehensive, in-person neuropsychological evaluations that are culturally and context-conscious across the lifespan (ages 6+). Her assessments are designed to provide clarity on neurodevelopmental conditions (ADHD, Learning Disorders), trauma, and neurocognitive disorders (memory or aging concerns).

Dr. Melissa strives to bridge the gap between clinical test results and real-life impact by helping patients and their families understand the nature of a diagnosis. Patients often describe Melissa’s approach as warm and reassuring, providing personalized insights, meaningful accommodations, and supportive recommendations tailored to the individual’s unique journey. Her priority is ensuring that her patients’ clinical reports feel like a straightforward, user-friendly guide so they can make sense of their diagnosis and take confident, manageable next steps towards well-being.

In the clinic, she is often accompanied by a warm cup of tea. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Melissa enjoys spending time with her adult children, her partner, her good friends, and her dog. She also loves to travel, experience outdoor adventures, and try new foods.
