Dr. Mary Maresh

For many people, seeking a psychological evaluation comes after years of wondering why certain things feel harder than they seem like they should. Dr. Maresh’s goal is to help patients make sense of those experiences and provide answers that are both clinically sound and meaningful in everyday life.

Dr. Maresh earned her doctorate from the University of St. Thomas Graduate School of Professional Psychology and has spent much of her career working in high-stakes clinical settings, conducting evaluations with adolescents and adults experiencing complex psychological issues and answering complicated diagnostic questions.

Dr. Maresh takes a comprehensive, person-centered approach to evaluation. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or test scores, she considers the whole picture – including an individual’s history, strengths, challenges, relationships, environment, and current functioning. She recognizes that many concerns can look similar on the surface, and she works to thoughtfully consider the factors contributing to a person’s difficulties to arrive at an accurate and meaningful diagnostic formulation. Her approach is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and evidence-based practice. She believes that an evaluation should do more than provide a diagnostic label – it should help patients understand themselves better. She strives for each patient to feel heard throughout the process and to leave the evaluation with a clear understanding of what the findings mean, what they may be experiencing, and what practical next steps may be helpful moving forward.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Maresh enjoys laughing with friends, spending time outside, waterskiing and downhill skiing, and lifting heavy weights, often during CrossFit workouts. She especially enjoys spending time with her husband, their two boys, and their goofy golden retriever, Charlie.
