Psychiatry Services at Optimal Brain MN Clinic

Medication management and whole-person psychiatric care for ages 8-99—online across Minnesota and in our Oakdale/Woodbury and downtown Minneapolis clinics. Hmong- and Spanish-speaking providers available.

Why see a psychiatry provider (and why it’s normal)

Seeking medication support is common—and practical. Many people come to psychiatry when symptoms start to interfere with sleep, work, school, health, or relationships. Whether this is your first time exploring medication, you’re revisiting it after a break, or you want a second opinion, you’re in the right place.

What psychiatric care looks like here

Thoughtful intake (60–90 minutes)

We review your history, current symptoms, medical factors, past treatments, and goals. When helpful, we gather collateral input (with permission) from family or other providers.

Collaborative plan

You’ll receive clear recommendations that may include medication, lab work (as indicated), lifestyle strategies (sleep, nutrition, movement), and a therapy referral. We practice measurement-based care and use brief check-ins (e.g., PHQ-9, GAD-7) to track progress.

Active treatment & follow-ups

Typical follow-ups are 20–30 minutes. Early on, visits are more frequent (every 2–4 weeks) to dial in the plan; as things stabilize, we space out visits.

Review, adjust, sustain

Typical follow-ups are 20–30 minutes. Early on, visits are more frequent (every 2–4 weeks) to dial in the plan; as things stabilize, we space out visits.

We coordinate closely with our psychotherapy team and with outside providers (primary care, specialists, schools) to keep care integrated and efficient.
